Apple
Usually if you buy an Apple product you get full functionality and if you buy it right when it comes out you get at lest 6-months of not being out-of-dated by a new version.
- Airport Extreme: five months later a new one came out with gigabit-ethernet.
- iMac: They sell you a computer which has crippled hardware: iMac’s 802.11n Wifi costing 2$ extra after you bought the computer.
- iPhone: Here’s a mobile PDA computer! But here’s the deal if you install software on it (which we won’t let you do) you have voided your warranty or bricked your phone. Two months after you get a $200 price drop, and now at MacWorld they are going to announce a faster and “Extreme” iPhone.
- AppleTV: Hey three months later you could have gotten a bigger hard drive and then we will act like we never made this device after we add crippled YouTube support.
- Mac OS X Leopard: We’re going to ship out a software bundle and call it an OS-upgrade for $130.
- Boot Camp: Say you go in an Apple Store and ask if you can run Windows on your Mac and they say all you need is Windows. Now come end of October you will have to buy Boot Camp for $30 on top of Windows.
- DRM-Free iTunes: 30 cents extra for DRM free? Limited selection of DRM free? This is how you act like you care about getting rid of DRM, but you don’t.
- 2$ Ringtones: Buying a song twice is a rip off. End of story.
- NEW: AppleCare, on computers — not iPods, only works for those who can go to a actual Apple Store. They do not tell you this when you buy a computer.
Don’t get me wrong, Apple’s devices are nice but they are treating their customer like crap!
How you can make this up to me:Third party applications on the iPhone, free Boot Camp, no more $2 charge for 802.11n in iMacs, and DRM-Free iTunes tracks for 80-cents. Oh, and FIX MY IMAC! Update: DRM free songs are now the same price as regular songs and third-party apps have been announced. Half way there!
AT&T Wireless
I went to the local AT&T store to pick up an iPhone the day after they came out and they were all out of the 8GB models so they said they would ship one to me the following Monday and it would be there Tuesday. Monday came, I called AT&T to ask where my shipping notice was and they said call this number. Calling that number told me to call the number I called the first time. It was an endless loop. Later Monday I got an email saying it was back ordered. I called AT&T to ask when it was in and they passed me around like a tennis ball again. This is how they treat new customers!I canceled the order and went and bought the iPhone at the Apple Store with no problems. Activating the phone came with issues though, AT&T says they don’t cover my town and the iTunes activation would no go through unless I said I was going to do Pre-Paid. Calling AT&T had the same results of hitting a tennis ball back and forth and literally ended up with them reading me off this big lie about how my town had no service and had no AT&T customers. My good friends whole family has AT&T so I knew this was crap. After visiting the local AT&T store I now have my phone working with full bars in my town. Suck it AT&T.
How you can make this up to me:Give me warrenty on the iPhone’s screen-cracking issue.Update: I didn’t say charge $250 for it either!
Comcast
Murdered TechTV so they can continue to dumb down society with Cops and The Man Show and painfully bad show hosts.
How you can make this up to me:Take G4 off the air.
Dish Network
All of a sudden my receiver stopped, well, receiving. So I called them and they said they would send a man out to fix it in two days. Two days come, they have called the night before to remind us they are coming, and they don’t show up. So I call Dish they say they will be here in three days. Three days go, we get the same day before call warning us they are coming, no show. So I call Dish, pissed off, and they call the man who was supposed to come. He hangs up on them. They call again and he, once again, hung up on Dish Network. So they tell me to call this number and they will send someone that afternoon. I call the number and they tell me they never take “requests” over the phone but for me they will and someone will call me in a few minutes. No one calls, no one comes. I call again that night and they tell me someone will come in three more days, needless to say they did not.
How you can make this up to me:Buy me a years worth of DirecTV + HBO + and 4 HD Tivo Receivers. Stop freaking calling me at all hours of the day and night begging me to rejoin your cult!
Sony
Back in 2005 Sony made a promise. That promise was to release a portable gaming console. With games. So I went out and bought one with the idea of portable movies and 3D games being awesome. $250 I spent on this thing with the hope of getting some super awesome gaming out of it. Two years later and I am still waiting for some games. The only games I have been able to play and enjoy are those NES titles I have hacked on there.Now I know what your saying “There are some PSP games!” and to that I respond: name one good one. Oh and before you start e-mailing me, I know Sony didn’t force me to buy it, but they did tell me it would play games which was a lie.
How you can make this up to me:Give me an explanation on why GameStop will only give me $60 for a trade in. It’s in perfect condition!
Verizon Wireless
Verizon sold me what they call a “perfectly good Motorola Q” that would crash on phone call, replaced it three times then gave me hell because I didn’t want a fourth Motorola Q to replace the last one that was shipped to me not working out of the box. After countless hours on the phone and loads of yelling they decided they where making too much money off of my account and decided to send me a Palm Treo 700p. After the yelling and lies from their end, I can say they are a douche.
How you can make this up to me:Cancel my account with no termination fee.
