I bought my iMac at the Apple Store in Nashville and they said if I ever had any issues AppleCare would cover it and help me out. So I got suckered into buying this “extended warranty.” My screen decided to break so I called Apple and they told me to bring it to the Apple Store and they’d tell me if they could fix it. They also told me that if they could fix it, it could possibly take a week to repair. The problem? The nearest Apple Store is 4 hours away. So I decided to see if they would do it by mail. They said no.
Then I did what would be a big deal to Apple. I decided to ask for a supervisor. Try 1: 50 minute wait, no one ever answered. Try 2: 45 minute wait, no one ever answered. I believe they were not transferring me and they just had put me on hold. Try 3: I got through after a 30 minute wait.
So I got through! The first question from the supervisor was in a coky-ass attitude “Do you really live 4 hours away?” I told her yes. “No you don’t” Yes I do! Then she said “You damaged the screen yourself didn’t you? This stuff doesn’t develop on it’s own.” I assured her I did not, then she went on to say “Well Apple will not replace your iMac [with AppleCare] even if you take it to the store for something your friends did to your monitor” HA! That’s where I had her. In order for my friends to damage it I would have to have friends! I was also told that she could cancel my Apple Care to use the $160 to pay the $1000 dollars Apple wants to replace the screen. This computer’s price is 80% monitor? I don’t think so!
So end of story: Apple Care is a damn lie. Use the first 10 days if you have to buy your product from Apple to tell if anything is wrong. Oh and Apple says your a liar.
