Netflix finally did it, they made their DVD collection viewable over the web. This YouTube like serivice is very neat. You download a small application, Windows only, and you can play a movie instantly on your computer.
When I decided to try this it took me about 15 minutes to find a movie I wanted to watch. Their selection is very limited, not all movies in their catalog are watchable. There is no search for watchable-movies only, so I had to go through by hand to find a movie.
I settled on watching Larry The Cable Guy, and after 10 minutes of buffering, to assure no pause in play, I began watching the movie. The quality was great, but a little blocky sometimes, but for what I’m paying it’s getting the job done correctly! I outputted the video and sound to my TV and watched it full screen without any issues.
For a beta product, I love it. I just wish it had more movies! Maybe some TV-shows on DVD like Family Guy or Pee-Wee’s Playhouse? That would be awesome.
