Everyone lets take a moment to thank Time Magazine for nominating me as the person of the year. I’ve been working hard to earn this title! Everyday I wake up, take a shower (duh!), and then check Digg, YouTube, and numerous other sites. It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it. I wouldn’t wish this hard job of changing the world and curing cancer upon anyone, not even my government. It’s about time Time realized how awesome I am. So lets not find someone who actually did something notable, heroic doctors, amazing technology, or hard working people. This is the time where we honor me!
Oh and by the way, this whole post is sarcastic. Time, take your money and actually find someone who does something for the good of humanity.
Time’s Person of the Year: You.
This. is. so. freaking. awesome! What am I so excited about now? The WiiSaber! The WiiSaber is an application for the Mac that connects your Wiimote to your computer and allows you to use it as a light-saber! It’s truly an awesome application.
If your one of the lucky Wii owners you can use it’s sensor bar with the Wiimote on your Mac now with the new version of DarwiinRemote. I couldn’t make my own sensor bar so I don’t know how good it works but the YouTube videos make me think it’s pretty good.
I was an hour away from home, in a recliner store resting, when I was checking Digg on my cell phone and low and behold! Some smart man has made a way to connect the Wiimote with the Macintosh! I shot home as soon as I could to test this out!
Let us praise DarwiinRemote!
Now I don’t have a Wii, as you can see on the side on the page, but from my testing at EB Games the controlling is simple. That is not so with connecting the Wiimote to a computer. I expect this to change over time besides the fact the Wii’s screen isn’t 1024 by 768. Like any laptop, DarwiinRemote takes some getting used to.
The application is a beta and is very unstable. I had the most trouble with it on a PPC computer, but it is so awesome I don’t care. I also tested it with a game like Graal Online and it was awesome. I would have tested it with World of Warcraft but the new update is downloading.
Good luck, and I totally recommend going out and buying a $40 Wiimote to try this out.
