January 19th was my birthday and this year I got a nice Canon digital SLR, the Canon XTi with the EF-S 18-55 lens. Now, I’m no professional photographist, that’s the word they use, but from what I’ve read and seen with my photos is that this camera takes really good photos. Here’s a photo of my dog Jackson.

What I don’t know is what is the difference between a zoom-able lens and a non-zoom-able lens. Post your answers in the comments, I’m going to go take about a hundred more photos of my dog.
Happy Birthday to ME!
From Jake’s Awesome Inc video blog. Make your own fake steve!
So you thought I forgot about Awesome Inc eh? Well I showed you! So here it is: My first video podcast/blog.
Today I discussed
- The MacBook Air and how while other ultra light laptops have 3g that isn’t a must
- How iTunes Rentals kicked the pants off my HD DVD player.
I’ve been playing with Pixelmator and man is it pretty awesome. Don’t write it off because “It’s not Photoshop.” Pixelmator is a more Mac-friendly Photoshop application that is $60.
Here’s a litte tutorial that I made up for you guys to see how I made this heart and how you can too!
From the video post:
Quick tutorial on how to make my pretty heart. I used a Gaussian blur for the shadow and layer-clipping masks for the gradients.
To make the shape of the heart I made a rectangle and put a circle on the tip, making half of a pill shape. Then I copy and paste’d it and rotated it 90° and that made the heart shape.

At CES this year Gizmodo brought a device called TV-B-Gone which is a one-button turn off for all the TVs around you. Very clever idea! CES is full of these TVs which all look the same and there no innovation except for the occasional new format that no one cares about (2 by 4K what?). Gizmodo decided to turn off some TVs as a prank, they even hired a new guy to do it so no one would really get in trouble.
In my opinion the joke was really funny the only part that wasn’t was when they turned off the TV of the guy giving a presentation. Besides that it was innocent fun. A little corperation-bull and some bull being thrown back in their face.
What am I getting at? Don’t hate Gizmodo for the joke: hate them for the awful blog and lies they report. If you have ever read their blog you know what they are about and inviting them to CES was your own fault. Gizmodo was very cool about it in the sense that they were prepared to take the consequences. That my friend is the only positive thing I can say about Gizmodo.
I will not link to the Gizmodo video showing the prank because I do not want to give Gizmodo that much promotion.

In 2007 we had a lot of release dates being, well, released. Just cause someone says something will be released doesn’t mean it will be and that angers me. Here’s the most disappointments for me!
1. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness
When the story of Penny Arcade having a game for not only Windows but Mac and Linux hit Digg in 2006 I was excited. Penny Arcade having a game: awesome. Penny Arcade having a game for Mac and Linux? Double-awesome. Then at this years PAX they said the game would be released after for Xbox Live Arcade. The thought then occurred to me that it could be on Wii Ware in 2008 too but that would be later.
The game was said to be released by Christmas 2007, it’s almost 2008 and I have no game on my Mac. Penny Arcade has no comment on their site about a delay either.
How awesome did that Wii Balance Board look when you first saw it at the E3-thingy? I know Nintendo never gave a date for America but Wikipedia said around Christmas, well it’s after and we’ve heard nothing. It’s been out in Japan for a while now and there is no reason why it should take that long to translate a video game, I’m sorry.
3. The Aquabats new cd “Charge!!!”
The Aquabats have been recording a new CD for a while now. It is the sequel to “Charge!!” that will be called “Charge!!!”. Their forums all say “It should be out by the end of the year” we’ll it again is the end of the year and not even a blog post! Where are my heros?! Come in Bat Commander can you hear me?!
I am now launching Awesome Inc! A podcast network with “Awesome” written all over it! We will launch with a technology podcast and we will be doing a gaming podcast as well as others!
Happy 6th Birthday to ZicklePop Productions! As you know ZicklePop Productions was started on December 25th 2001 and it will end on… Nah it won’t end.
